Welcome to Johannesburg! We’ll greet you at the airport and transfer you to our funky hostel where you’ll be able to recover from your flight. You’ll meet your new travelling mates for a night out exploring the sites of JoBurgand.

Day 1: Arrive in Joburg!	

This morning, we’re riding into the town of Soweto on bikes, stopping by Nelson Mandela’s house and reflecting on the difficult history of the area. Continuing the theme of the day, we’ll visit the Apartheid Museum to learn more about South Africa’s history of struggle to better appreciate the depth of the country’s character. Free time’s on the agenda this afternoon for you to relax or explore before meeting up again for a pub crawl of the best watering holes around.

Day 2: Discover Johannesburg

We’re off with an early start towards Kruger National park, passing along the famous Panorama Route to take in some of Africa’s most unique and pretty landscapes. We’ll check into our accommodation in the valley for the night.

Day 3: Travel To Hazyview Via The Panorama Route

Today we’ll explore the iconic Kruger National Park, home to one of Africa’s largest game reserves. As we head to our unique campsite in a secluded corner of the park, be on the lookout to spot wildlife and mammals. Tonight, whip out your best culinary skills as we help the chefs prepare a traditional South African braai (BBQ dinner), a hearty feast perfect to get us ready for tomorrow’s safari!

Day 4: Kruger National Park

If you didn’t see your favourite wildlife animal yesterday, today is your day – we’re going on an open vehicle game drive through Kruger National Park! Be ready to take snaps of prides of lions, herds of elephants, solitary leopards, rhinos and masses of buffalo. And take heart, you’ll be safe with experienced guides for the best experience possible. Tonight, our guide will show us how to make traditional stork brood (stick bread) as we tuck into another BBQ over the fire. The highlight of the night is star gazing across the widest expanse of dazzling sky you’ve ever seen.

Day 5: Explore the Kruger!

Today we cross the border to traverse the Hlane Royal National Park in the tiny nation of Eswatini. This is a protected area teeming with wildlife and diverse Swazi ecosystems. In the afternoon we have another chance to catch sight of fauna on an exhilarating sunset game drive. This will take your breath away as golden hour casts an exquisite light across the grasslands. Tonight, we’ll sit around the campfire and watch rangers perform their traditional style of Swazi singing and dancing for us, complete with drums and whistles.

Day 6: Travel To Eswatini

Today we return to South Africa and head towards Pongolapoort Nature Reserve. After checking in to camp, we’ll be taken to a local village to discover the region’s traditional way of life for a truly authentic insight. We’ll make our way to Lake Jozini in the heart of the ‘Kingdom of Zulu’. Watch the sun set sending glittering shivers across the water while listening to locals regale us with stories around the campfire with a traditional Zulu meal.

Day 7:  Zulu Community Stay 

Pack up and get excited for our next destination. We’re headed for the bright lights of Durban, the warmest place to be! Be charmed by the afro-indo culture and idyllic beaches of the Golden Mile, also known for its world-class surf spots. If you’re up for a thrill, go for a skydive! Or if you want a day of relaxation, chill on the beach with a book and cocktail. In the evening, we’re learning how to make Bunny Chow, a South African fast-food dish that’s essentially a loaf of bread filled with curry. Sounds simple, tastes divine!

Day 8: Discover Durban

No trip to South Africa is complete without a visit to Cape Town. We’re catching an early morning flight to the oldest city in South Africa. Sandwiched between the slopes of Table Mountain and the glistening sapphire waters of Table Bay, this scenic city boasts vibrant nightlife, extraordinary architecture, world-class beaches, quirky cosmopolitan flair, and more. We’ll take the cableway up Table Mountain, a flat-topped mountain that is South Africa’s most iconic landmark and one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. We’ll watch the brilliant sunset from this vantage point over the majestic natural amphitheatre. Then we’ll head to the V&amp;A Waterfront to stroll, shop, visit a brewery and take in the views.

Day 9: Table Mountain

We’re going on a walking tour of Bo-Kaap today, a neighbourhood known for its brightly coloured houses, the oldest mosque in South Africa, and spicy Cape Malay cuisine. Then we’ll drive past the Houses of Parliament, the City Hall, District 6 Museum, Slave Lodge, The Castle, and Cape Town Stadium to take in all the main attractions. In the afternoon, we’ll walk along the Sea Point Promenade and observe Cape Town’s most popular outdoor exercise space. Tonight we’re hanging out at Café Neo while sipping on a complimentary cocktail at sunset.

Day 10: Explore Cape Town

Today we have a jam-packed day full of adventure around the dramatic Cape Peninsula exploring beaches and steep cliffs meeting the Atlantic. Then we’re going on a cruise from the beautiful fishing town of Hout Bay to observe a thousand-strong colony of wild fur seals living their best life unbothered by our gaze. After lunch, we’ll drive along Chapman’s Peak, take in the spectacular scenery of the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, and get chummy with a colony of wild African penguins on Boulders beach. We’ll celebrate our last night with a farewell dinner and drinks on Long Street, the party capital of Cape Town!

Day 11: Cape Peninsula Tour

Just like that, our 12-day African adventure is done. You can either check out and journey home, extend your stay in Cape Town or continue your travels in Africa.
