Day 1 Arrival
Arrive at Kathmandu late at night. You will need to complete the Visa on Arrival process. Cost is USD$25 or AUD$40 (you can pay in Australian Dollars). Once complete, go downstairs and pick up your luggage before heading out and meeting the group representative. We will be across the road from the exit crossing with all the other drivers with name boards. You will be transferred to your hotel for a good night’s sleep

Day 2 Kathmandu Sightseeing
After breakfast, you will be escorted on a guided tour of some of the most historic sites in Kathmandu. The tour includes the UNESCO world heritage sites of Kathmandu Durbar Square, the open-air crematorium ghats of Pashupatinath, the famous “Monkey temple” of Swayambhunath and the Bouddhanath Stupa where we will stop for a rooftop lunch where you will have photogenic views of the temple.

This afternoon we will visit the Nepal cooking school where we will learn hands-on about Nepalese food whilst making 4 delicious dishes which we will get to sample as our dinner tonight.

Day 3 Trisuli White Water Rafting
We start our morning with a tour of the traditional Nepalese market of Asan Tole. This is not a tourist market but a series of stalls used by local Nepali people to buy their daily necessities.

After breakfast, you will head to Trisuli River for an afternoon of white water rafting. Don’t worry if you have never done this before, the trained instructors will help teach you the basics before we head down the rapids for some wet fun. After our rafting adventure we will continue towards the central Nepalese city of Pokhara nestled on the shores of Lake Fewa.

Day 4 Annapurna Ranges
This morning we travel like a local taking the provincial bus into the mountains. Our journey will take us through local villages where you get to witness life at Nepali pace. Don’t be surprised if our bus eventually fills with local produce, boxes and the occasional chicken. We stop at the last stop on the bus route at Dhampus where we settle into our hotel to watch the afternoon sunset over the picturesque Annapurna ranges. Traditionally this village is one of the first-night stopping points on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, but with the roads now making it all the way we use this opportunity to skip by the trekkers making their way on foot but still get the reward of the mountain vistas.

Day 5 Dhumpas to Pokhara
We wake up early to watch the sunrise over the Annapurna ranges. After breakfast we make our way back to Pokhara where we visit the World Peace Pagoda and the International Mountain Museum. Tonight you can wander the streets of Pokhara’s lakeside district before we catch a movie at the outdoor cinema.

Day 6 Pokhara to Kathmandu
This morning we make our way to nearby Sarangkot Hill station where we take part in a paragliding flight of the skies of Pokhara before we board our van for the 6-8 hour trip back to Kathmandu.

Day 7 Kathmandu Flight to Tibet
After breakfast, we pack our bag and head to the airport for the next part of our Himalayan journey - Tibet.

The journey from the airport to your hotel in Lhasa city is approximately 68 km (42 miles) and for an hour, during the drive, we will have time to enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Tibetan plateau.

Once we arrive in Lhasa we head to our hotel where we can relax and acclimatise to the high altitude for the rest of the day.

Day 8 Lhasa Sightseeing
This morning we start our tour with a visit to the iconic Potala Palace. This impressive complex is a city within a city and was the historical home of the Dalai Lamas (Avalokiteshvara), built in the 7th century. This complex is under continual restoration from the harsh Tibetan climate so as to maintain its grandeur.

We then visit Tibet’s most sacred shrine the Jokhand temple which is a popular pilgrimage destination. To obtain a truly authentic experience we circumambulate the Barkhor Street walking circuit with pilgrams before heading off the Lhasa Old Town to get a glimpse of daily Tibetan life.

Day 9 Lhasa Monastery tour
This morning we visit the Drepung monastery, a former seat of the Tibetan government and once the home of the largest monastery in the world with over ten thousand monks calling it home. A legacy from those days is the monk’s debate each afternoon except Sunday.

Day 10 Namtso Lake
Today we venture into the northern Tibetan grassland to the world's highest saltwater lake, Namtso Lake. In the distance, we take in the views of the snowcapped Nyecheng Tangkula Mountain.

Namtso lake is one of the three holiest lakes in Tibet Pilgrims once used to cross the surface of the frozen lake with all their food during winter to one of the rocky outcrops and spend the summer there, unable to return to land until the lake's surface froze again the following winter.

Day 11 Namtso Lake to Lhasa
This morning we arise early to watch the sunrise. After breakfast we walk along the lake shore to visit the Tashi Dor Monastery, built around a cave and containing the statue of Luwang Gyelpo, the king of Naga (lake snake spirits) along with numerous meditation caves. We then head back toward Lhasa stopping on the way to see nomadic Yak herding families who dwell in Yak wool tents on the tundra grasslands.

We also stop at the famous Yampanchen hot springs lying on the southern slopes of Nyenchen Tangula Mountains and enjoy bathing in the warmth of this natural outdoor spa.

Day 12 Lhasa – Onward Flight
Today marks the end of our Nepal and Tibetan odyssey. Once packed we are taken to Lhasa airport for our flight home where we can reflect on this amazing adventure to the roof of the world.
